The kids "vacation"

So Adam and I went on Trek with our stake (which was AWESOME!), so the kids got to spend a couple of days at my sister's house. Because I am so horrible at this blogging thing, here is the link to her blog about the time the kids were with her. What do you think? This may be the future of blogging... haha at least MY blogging. :-)

Pay It Forward

So, my cousin Shanna posted this on her blog and I was one of the lucky ones to read it first and win! So I am so excited to post this on my blog and "pay it forward"! (ps. it is in cool fonts because I copied it directly from Shan's blog.) :-)

Here's how it works:

1. Be one of the first 3 bloggers to leave a comment on this post and you will win a handmade item from me!

2. Winners, you must post this challenge on your blog, meaning you will Pay It Forward, creating a handmade gift for the first 3 bloggers who leave a comment on your post about this giveaway.

3. You have 365 days to make/ship your item which can be in any price range. Remember it’s the spirit and the thought that count!

4. When you receive your gift, blog about it and share the appropriate link love. Don't forget to post your winners and your handmade gifts when you're done, too.

I'm excited to see who is going to win!

UPDATE: Congrats to Erica, Kiley, and Angie! I have great ideas for what I am going to do for you!

Happy Birthday, Adam!

Happy Birthday to my wonderful husband!

We had a very nice day yesterday celebrating Adam's birthday in a VERY mellow way. We started out the day with church in the morning, then maybe 5 minutes after we got home, Adam had crashed for his birthday nap. Adam's sister, Allison, made a tasty dinner of meatloaf, green beans and baked potatoes for his birthday dinner. See, one of the very first meals I cooked for Adam was an undercooked meatloaf. (It being one of his favorite dishes and all...) Anyway, being as newly married as we were, he ate it without saying a word (did I tell you he is a wonderful husband?) and promptly threw up with food poisoning for the next few days. Needless to say, I decided then and there that I would NEVER make meatloaf again and have kept that promise. So Adam ate himself silly on Allison's very yummy, very correctly cooked meatloaf.

The kids were so excited for Adam to open his presents. Zoe gave him a red glow stick and promptly asked him if he wanted her to use it when she went to bed that night so she wouldn't be scared of the dark. Max gave Adam the boardgame Sorry and we spent the next, oh, at least an hour playing that game with him. Maybe I should learn from them and start buying him things that I want.

I am so grateful to be married to Adam. He is my rock. I appreciate all he does for our family and the community. I am so glad I can stay home and raise our children because he works so hard. He is Scoutmaster of Troop 138 and the boys think he is fantastic. He also plans all of the District camps and just recently had a very successful Klondike. He is a wonderful dad and would rather spend time with us as a family than be anywhere else! I love you, Adam!

Potty!

(from Adam)

The long awaited day has arrived. After teasing us for a few days, Cannon finally climbed the porcelain throne and began his reign. And there was quite a celebration; singing, dancing, cheering. It reminded me of the ending of The Phantom Menace.

Let's hope he can continue his streak and be out of diapers by March! =)

My favorite salad

I had a request for this salad recipe. Sorry Alece and Shan that it took me so long to put it up! Love ya!

Chicken Ramen Salad

1/2 head of cabbage
1/2 head of lettuce
3 green onions, chopped
2 to 3 c. shredded chicken
2 tbsp. sugar
1/3 c. olive oil
1/4 c. rice vinegar
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 pkg. chicken flavor Top Ramen noodles
1/3 c. sliced almonds
3 tbsp. sesame seeds

Toast almonds and sesame seeds. Combine cabbage, green onions, and chicken in one bowl. In another bowl mix sugar, vinegar, pepper and oil; mix with packet from Top Ramen. Pour over salad. Crumble noodle and nuts, add just before serving. Voila!

You can use all cabbage or all lettuce if you want. It's yummy no matter what!

(from Adam)

Today was the first day in a long time that I did not have to get up and do something on Saturday morning. No scout camps, merit badge pow-wows, or anything. I love doing those things, but it was nice to be home for a change.

It was such a nice day, it almost gave me spring fever (I'm still realistic though- I'm sure there are still a few snow storms out there). After doing my first "long run" to train for the SLC half marathon, I spent the rest of the day taking pictures.

Here is one that I took of Jessica. I really like this one. Very hot.

I'll try to post more of the pictures as I have time to process them. In the meantime, if anyone wants to model for me, let me know. I'm always excited to have new subjects.

A friend of mine came up with a new aphorism and we are trying to spread it into mainstream culture (he doesn't have much else going on and wants to make some sort of mark on the world). Please feel free to use this phrase as much as possible...

"Don't mortgage the farm to save the outhouse".

or

"Its like mortgaging the farm to save the outhouse".

Regards.
